Make money selling your plasma – Selling blood plasma is one of the easiest ways to make money with your body. Plasma is the pale yellow liquid portion of your blood that can be easily replaced by the body.  It consists mainly of water and proteins, which help your body control bleeding and infection.  Plasma collection companies will collect your plasma, pay you for it, then sell it to drug companies that create blood protein products that can be used to help hemophiliacs, burn victims and others.

To donate plasma, you must be between the ages of 18 and 65, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.  You can donate up to twice per week and make anywhere from $160 to $250 a month (depending on what your local plasma center pays). It takes 60-80 minutes to donate, and you can read, pray, listen to music or a podcast, or just daydream while you are making your donation.

There are several different plasma donation companies, with donation centers located across the U.S.  One of the largest is Bio Life Plasma Services.

I’m a plasma donor, and I’ve found it’s a fairly easy, but not entirely painless, way to earn some extra money.  And if a husband and wife both donated their plasma two times a week, they could earn around $6,000 in extra income per year. That’s pretty good money for just a few hours a week!

Make money through product testing or sampling – Businesses, especially food, vitamin and cosmetic producers, frequently need people to test or sample their products.  In my community, for example, a baby food manufacturer hires moms to come and taste the baby food.  And a marketing company pays people to come in and give their opinions about certain products.  If you have any food manufacturers or marketing firms in your area, a quick call is all it takes to find out if they have any paid testing/sampling opportunities that you can be participate in.  You might be paid in cash, or in product, for your valuable input and time.

Make money by participation in medical experiments and trials – Pharmaceutical companies regularly run clinical trials where they pay people to take their medicine to see how it affects them.  And medical schools and research labs need people who are willing to undergo experimental procedures.  I’ve seen these opportunities advertised in our local newspaper from time to time.

If you have a drug manufacturer, med school or research lab in your area, check to see if they have any opportunities you might be eligible for.  But don’t limit yourself to local companies, because many times, these firms want participants from all across the country.

One research company, Covance, has locations across the U.S. and U.K. and pays up to $4,300 for participation.  Some of these trials require an inpatient stay for a few days, and some for a few weeks.  The longer the stay, the higher the compensation.

All of these opportunities are ways you can earn extra money, and also help save or improve the lives of others. Some are fairly simple and easy, while others involve a larger commitment of time. Which ones have you tried…and which ones sound interesting to you?
